The people who use the MouthPad every day: on work, school, gaming, and getting their independence back. Their stories, at full length.
Totally revolutionized how I use my computer
“The mouthpad’s a game-changer; it totally revolutionized how I use my computer. I tried a lot of other computer interaction devices before, but most of them were physically straining and awkward. The mouthpad was intuitive from the start, easy to use and allowing me to access features I couldn’t use before. Now I game better, work faster, and life’s just easier. But best of all, when I use my computer, I no longer feel like my limitations hold me back.”

Opened doors to opportunities I never thought possible
“Before discovering assistive technology, everyday tasks felt like insurmountable hurdles. As someone with a C1 spinal cord stroke, I struggled to stay connected, access information, or navigate independently. Then I was introduced to the MouthPad and my world changed.
Suddenly, I could respond to emails, browse the internet, and even use it to 3D model. The MouthPad gave me back my independence and opened doors to opportunities I never thought possible, like pursuing my degree that was put on hold since my incident 2 years ago.
It’s not just about convenience; the MouthPad has empowered me to get back into school when I thought my degree wouldn’t be possible without my arms. I’m forever grateful for the transformative impact of Augmental.”

The learning curve was minimal, and the responsiveness is impressive
“October 3, 2021, is the day I became an incomplete C3 quadriplegic. Since then, I’ve relied heavily on voice control. While it’s been helpful, it also comes with limitations that can make everyday tasks frustrating. About four weeks ago, I started using the Augmental MouthPad, and it has completely changed my experience with technology. This device allows me to control my computer like a traditional mouse, using only my tongue and slight head movements. The learning curve was minimal, and the responsiveness is impressive. As someone with very limited physical control, this device has given me back a level of independence I didn’t think was possible. Beyond just operating my wheelchair with chin control, I can now navigate my computer more freely and efficiently on my own. If you’re considering assistive technology, I highly recommend looking into the Augmental MouthPad. It feels instinctive, like second nature
“My hands are paralyzed, so I don’t have fine motor control. The MouthPad feels surprisingly natural and intuitive. The ratcheting feature is brilliant: it’s going to make life so much easier. I struggle to press down on my trackpad to drag anything; technically, I can, but not effectively. I really appreciate the level of customization this device offers. I already love it. Using it feels instinctive, like second nature.”

Truly a game-changer
“Big thanks to Augmental for sending me the MouthPad to try out! It fits comfortably in my mouth and responds to simple gestures like head movements and tongue taps to move the cursor, click, and scroll. It’s been amazing to see how seamlessly it works across devices like iPhones and tablets. Plus, the app makes it super easy to customize the controls to fit my needs. MouthPad is truly a game changer, not just for me but for anyone with mobility challenges.”

Everything I’ve wanted it to be and then some more
“The MouthPad is a game-changer! I was so used to being able to use hand control, and that’s what I miss. Thank you so much for coming up with this technology. It’s everything I’ve wanted it to be and then some. It makes my job way more easy. My life is way more easy.”

I am not tethered by a cord
“The MouthPad is a rather ingenious device. I have been using it for about a month now. It is quite intuitive and functions by a combination of head and tongue movements. I was off and running with it after only one hour of experimentation.
On any given day I will typically use my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. Since this is a Bluetooth device, it migrates from one to the other seamlessly. More importantly for me, I am not tethered by a cord. This also permits usage at a variety of distances from the screen. macOS and iOS already support a robust array of commands, numbers, and grids as part of their accessibility features. These can be paired with the MouthPad to further speed up writing or programming. An especially strong feature I appreciate for reading long documents is the ease in scrolling up or down the page. Invariably using a voice command like ‘scroll down’ or ‘pan up’ puts you in a place you don’t want to be.
Another nice feature for me is privacy. Previously, I relied on dictation to write. This is more like typing, but with your tongue. On another positive note, I have found the staff to be friendly, cool folks that are very responsive, which impresses me enormously.
There are very few downsides. You do have to get used to something in your mouth akin to a plastic retainer. It does affect your speech if you are trying to combine the MouthPad with voice commands. I am only getting about 4.5 hours of usage time with a full battery charge, but that is usually easy enough to work around in a typical workday. If I had to rate this product, I would give it an 8.5/10. A great device for those with limited mobility, which minor design tweaks will only improve over time.”

Minimal friction between me and my device
“I no longer have interest in the Neuralink implant given the risks of Neurosurgery and the use of the MouthPad. I couldn’t be more pleased and thankful for the product Augmental has created.
It has significantly improved my day to day work experience. I can use my computer for up to ten hours without thinking about adaptive equipment. The MouthPad creates minimal friction between myself and my device, allowing me to fully immerse in the operating system. It also gives me a quality of life improvement. The Windows app is fantastic.
I genuinely believe every quad should have access to the MouthPad. I will do what I can to get the MouthPad to each quad I work with. Well done!”

Missing chess for so long, and I got it back
“Within days, I am now playing chess again against friends, Wordle with my dad, and with my daughter I can now play PBS kids games and read digital books before her bedtime by flipping the pages hands-free. I’ve been missing chess for so long, and I got it back, thanks to you guys.”

Augmental’s MouthPad has changed my life
“This retainer-like tongue-based Bluetooth interface allows me to control my phone and laptop with my tongue, and hopefully soon other devices like wheelchairs, exoskeletons, wearables, and more, with slight tongue movements. The MouthPad is a revolutionary technology that will change my life and the lives of many people with disabilities.
Augmental’s MouthPad has changed my life. For the first time in my life, I was able to take pictures and videos independently because I was not relying on the device’s camera to be able to operate it. The MouthPad is still in beta, and I am very proud to be a part of Augmental’s early access program; I can’t wait to see what other exciting things the MouthPad will be able to do!”

Eventually everyone will be using it
“When I was first injured, I was trying to learn how to use voice control to type and do all my papers and homework and it was so frustrating, and that was part of just dropping out of school. Like, oh my goodness, this is how it should be: (The MouthPad) is very seamless, it’s very easy to use, it’s very intuitive. Eventually everyone will be using it.”

It’s given me a spark
“I’m excited about the future because of the independence I have now from the MouthPad. Being able to stay up late to do homework, or play games, it gives me a sense of normalcy. It’s given me the motivation to want to take control of my life. It’s given me a spark.”

Don’t have to use my mouth stylus anymore
“I really love the MouthPad. With this technology I don’t have to use my 12″ mouth stylus anymore. I love the fact that I can move my head around to be able to use the MouthPad and use my tongue to click on things. Definitely takes practice to learn the speed and hands free technology, but it makes it easy to use.”

I’m looking forward to the future
“I enjoyed yesterday’s onboarding and opportunity to use the MouthPad for the first time. I thought I would give my first impressions. I was pleasantly surprised that everything fit right in my mouth at first go, so kudos to whoever is responsible for mold quality assurance/design finish.
The motion control/head tracking in conjunction with being able to click/click and hold whenever I want, I think, is the prominent feature, and the most useful and user-friendly for me right now. I’ve experienced no discomfort from having worn the device yesterday for probably around five hours. I’m looking forward to the future. My hats off to the innovators.”

Even a kid could figure it out
“Using the MouthPad is simple. You use the tip of your tongue and touch the roof of your mouth. Even a kid could figure it out. The first time I wore it, it was easy to put in since they scan your mouth, it pretty much maps your whole mouth, and it fits perfectly. Anything anyone else can do on the internet, you can definitely do with the MouthPad.”
